Typhoon Yagi Leaves 16 People Dead in Philippines

Sixteen people died, 15 injured, while 21 others went missing due to floods and landslides caused by typhoon Yagi, which has struck parts of the Philippines, according to the Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's reports today. The council also noted that since the beginning of the week, 1.7 million people have been affected by severe weather across 26 provinces along with the capital, Manila. Among those affected, 106,834 people have been displaced due to flooding in some areas. Meanwhile, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center said that Typhoon Yagi had intensified with winds reaching 130 kilometers per hour. However, the tropical storm has exited the Philippines and is expected to affect Hong Kong before reaching southern China by the end of the week.
