Beirut - Ma'an - The international forces operating in southern Lebanon "UNIFIL" announced that the UN Security Council, which unanimously approved on Wednesday the extension of UNIFIL's mandate for a full year, urged all relevant actors to implement immediate measures towards de-escalation. He called on the concerned parties to recommit to the full implementation of all provisions of Resolution 1701, stressing his strong support for full respect for the Blue Line and a complete cessation of hostilities. UNIFIL indicated that "the new Security Council resolution condemned the incidents that affected UNIFIL forces and their positions, including the injury of several peacekeepers, urging all parties to take all necessary measures to respect the safety and security of UNIFIL personnel and positions, and to allow UNIFIL to carry out the tasks stipulated in Resolution 1701."
