Upon HM Directives, Shura Council to Open 2nd Annual Sitting on 10 November.

Muscat: Based on the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Shura Council will, on 10 November 2024, open its second annual sitting (2024-2025) of the Tenth Term (2023-2027), in line with the provisions of Article (41) of the Council of Oman Law (7/2021). According to Oman News Agency, Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, stated that the Shura Council is aligning with national aspirations in the Sultanate of Oman. He emphasized that the Council has strengthened its role in advancing the country's comprehensive development through the effective implementation of Oman Vision 2040. This includes achieving integration with state institutions and enhancing community participation in the national decision-making process. Al Nadabi elaborated on the agenda for the first regular session of the second annual sitting, which will focus on discussing and endorsing the draft law on special economic zones and free zones. This bill has been forwarded to the Council by the government. Additionally, the session will address replies from ministries to queries submitted by Council members. During the session, members will also be briefed on the draft budget of the State for the Fiscal Year 2025, currently being studied by the Council's Economic Committee and Financial Committee. Al Nadabi highlighted the Council's commitment to transparency and direct communication with the media. To this end, a press gathering will be organized on 5 November with media representatives and specialists in legislative affairs. This meeting aims to outline various aspects of the Council's functioning, its legislative roles, and its recent developments within the context of Oman Vision 2040, in line with competencies specified by the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman.
