Muscat: US President Donald Trump said that the United States is "pretty close" to an agreement with Ukraine on sharing revenue from Ukrainian minerals as part of efforts to end the Ukraine war. Trump told delegates at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) near Washington: "I'm trying to get the money back, or secured." He said that European countries had given their aid as a loan but the US had not.
According to Oman News Agency, Trump emphasized the need for the US to receive something in return for the financial support it has provided. "I want them to give us something for all the money we put up," Trump told the CPAC conference. The potential minerals deal is viewed as a strategic move by the US to recoup its investments and secure valuable resources from Ukraine.
