Workshop Held in Elderly Sector to Raise Awareness, Strengthen Multi-Sector Integration

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development has organized a developmental workshop for the elderly sector, which will run for two weeks with the participation of a number of specialists and representatives from government entities, the private sector, and civil society institutions. This initiative is part of national efforts to develop an integrated system of services for this demographic and to enhance their quality of life.

According to Oman News Agency, the workshop aims to bring together various relevant stakeholders through participatory meetings in order to assess challenges and gaps in the elderly sector, analyze them, and identify opportunities for improvement, thereby contributing to the development of programmes and services through a comprehensive and integrated methodology.

It also seeks to align visions among relevant entities, enhance institutional integration, and build effective partnerships that support the implementation of high-impact initiatives aligned with the targets of Oman Vision 2040.

The workshop targets 136 individuals working in the field of elderly care and services, as well as representatives from the private sector, government entities, and civil society institutions, thereby strengthening the integration of national efforts and contributing to achieving a sustainable impact in the development of this important sector.

The workshop addresses a number of topics related to the elderly sector, most notably raising community awareness of the issues and needs of the elderly, introducing relevant services, programmes, and legislation, highlighting the importance of integrating the elderly into various aspects of social and economic life, and encouraging the private sector and civil society institutions to contribute to initiatives related to this sector.
