Cape Town: Foreign ministers from South Africa and 15 other countries have voiced concerns regarding the safety of the international Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) as it makes its way to Gaza.

According to Nam News Network, the concerns were articulated in a joint statement issued by South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation. The statement highlighted that the flotilla, a civil society initiative, aims to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The Global Sumud Flotilla comprises dozens of boats and hundreds of activists. It is supported by delegations from 44 countries, with the intent to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip and deliver necessary humanitarian aid.

The statement further urged all involved parties to adhere to international law and avoid any unlawful or violent actions against the flotilla. It warned that any violations, such as attacks in international waters or illegal detention, would result in accountability.
