SALAM: FOR DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY AT THE ENERGY LEVEL


Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, called today on platform ‘X’ for “accelerating the adoption of national and bold steps to accept Qatari energy projects and implement them as quickly as possible since neither generators nor state electricity meet the needs of our public utilities.”

In this context, Salam also called for “declaring an energy state of emergency to protect public safety.”

GEAGEA URGES EDUCATION MINISTER NOT TO ACCEPT ANY FOREIGN STUDENT WITHOUT A VALID RESIDENCE PERMIT


Lebanese Forces Party Chief, Samir Geagea, wrote today on his “X’ platform account: ‘Your Excellency the Minister of Education: By the 2024-2025 academic year, the situation in all schools and at various levels must return to the legal status, i.e. just as each student who applies for admission to a public or private school is required to submit his/her identification papers, likewise I am turning to you to issue a circular to all schools, regardless of their differences, not to accept any foreign student, Syrian or other, who does not possess a valid residence permit issued by the Lebanese General Security, which is the sole document recognised by the state…The Ministry of Education must therefore be at the forefront of compliance in this regard.”

MELONI, NETANYAHU DISCUSS IN A PHONE CALL NEED TO ENHANCE HUMANITARIAN AID, AVOID TENSIONS


The phone conversation between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the situation in Gaza and the region highlighted ‘their joint assessment of the need to strengthen humanitarian assistance provided to the civilian population in Gaza and to avoid increasing tensions along the border between Israel and Lebanon,l.”

The Italian PM affirmed her country’s forefront efforts to stabilize the region through its participation in the UNIFIL mission.

This was stated in a memorandum by the Italian Council of Ministers.

ISLAMIC RESISTANCE TARGETS ISRAELI ZIBDIN BARRACKS IN OCCUPIED SHEBAA FARMS


The Islamic Resistance issued this afternoon a communique, indicating that in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the Resistance fighters targeted at 05:05 pm today the enemy’s Zibdin barracks in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms, hitting them directly with missile weapons.

ISRAELI WARPLANES TARGET MAROUN AL-RAS


National News Agency correspondent reported that the Israeli warplanes launched a raid at approximately 7:55 p.m. today, in two batches, targeting the vicinity of Maroun al-Ras Park, launching 4 air-to-surface missiles at the targeted area.

Bank of Israel keeps key interest rate at 4.5%


Tel Aviv – Ma’an – The Bank of Israel kept interest rates unchanged on Monday for the fourth consecutive meeting, maintaining its cautious policy due to the nine-month war that Israel has been waging on the Gaza Strip, as well as stable inflation.

The bank kept its benchmark interest rate at 4.50%.

The bank had cut interest rates by 25 basis points in January after inflation fell and economic growth was hit by the war on Gaza, but kept policy unchanged in February, April and May.

Palestine Islamic Bank and Al-Zaytouna Islamic Finance Company sign a cooperation agreement


Ramallah – Ma’an – The Palestine Islamic Bank and Al-Zaytouna Islamic Finance Company signed a settlement bank agreement, according to which the bank will settle Al-Zaytouna Company’s accounts in the national bill display and payment system E-SADAD.

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the General Administration of the Palestine Islamic Bank in the city of Ramallah, in the presence of the Bank’s General Manager, Dr. Imad Al-Saadi, and the General Manager of Al-Zaytouna Islamic Finance Company, Jamal Awda.

Al-Saadi said that this agreement is part of the ongoing cooperation between the two parties in several fields, and that it also contributes to enhancing the public’s orientation towards electronic payment solutions by allowing Al-Zaytouna Company’s customers to pay their installments quickly, easily and around the clock through banking applications via the E-SADAD platform.

Al-Saadi added: ‘There is a close relationship between the bank and Al-Zaytouna Company since its establishment, and this
is not the first agreement between us, and we are keen to strengthen the partnership and cooperation with Islamic financial and banking institutions in Palestine due to its importance in developing the Islamic financial industry.’

For his part, Awda said that this agreement comes within the framework of the partnership with the Palestine Islamic Bank and aims to enable the company’s clients to pay their installments electronically through the national bill display and payment system E-SADAD, and it enhances the spirit of cooperation and integration between Islamic financial institutions and the benefit between them.

The signing of the agreement was attended by the Assistant General Manager of the Palestine Islamic Bank for Branches, Zayed Shaqir, the Director of the Marketing and Public Relations Department, Ibrahim Salman, the Director of the Finance Department, Mahmoud Aql, and the Director of the Electronic Services Department, Saleh Al-Saadi. On behalf of Al-Zaytouna Company, the Director of Finance, Mu
stafa Abu Al-Teen, the Director of Support Affairs, Fadi Sharif, and the Digital Media Officer, Hiba Awry, participated.
