OMSB 3rd Meeting Discusses New Training, Fellowship Programmes

Oman Medical Specialty Board’s (OMSB) Executive Council today held its 3rd meeting of 2023 under the auspices of Dr. Houd Abdullah Al Abri, Vice President for Academic Affairs who directs the executive Council’s tasks.

The meeting discussed the approval of new specialized training and fellowship programmes, including the Neurology residency programme, the Developmental Behavioural Paediatrics Fellowship programme and the Adult Gastroenterology Fellowship programme.

The meeting touched on developments in training programmes and plans, which include oversight of programme changes introduced by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME-I) and the annual update of internal accreditation data.

The meeting also looked into internal accreditation reports related to the orthopaedic surgery residency programme and the internal accreditation report for Nizwa Hospital (as a training centre).

The meeting approved Fatigue Management Policy which includes ways of managing cases of mental and physical stress. The programme targets trainees and outlines preventive, supervisory, evaluation and remediation measures.
