Geneva - Together - After about 7 months of war in the Gaza Strip, two United Nations agencies warned of an increase in poverty rates in the Palestinian territories to reach 58 percent. The United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia said in a joint report that the war will push about 1.74 million people into poverty. He added that Palestine's gross domestic product declined by a significant rate of 26.9 percent, with total losses exceeding $7 billion compared to what they were in 2023. The report warned that continuing the war for 9 months would increase the poverty rate in Palestine to 60.7 percent. The two organizations also expected the Palestinian gross domestic product to decline to 29 percent, with total losses of $7.6 billion, if the war continued for 9 months. Source: Maan News Agency
