The process of evacuating Syrian nationals from the northern Lebanese town of Koubba in Batroun district commenced on Tuesday, following directives from North Lebanon Governor Judge Ramzi Nohra. Unauthorized residential areas were sealed with red wax to prevent further occupancy. Governor Nohra visited Koubba and assessed the situation, leading to the decision to evacuate Syrians residing illegally in the town. This initiative has been welcomed by local residents, who have experienced disturbances and conflicts between the Syrian nationals and the local community in recent times. Municipal statistics prior to the evacuation indicated the presence of slightly over a thousand Syrians in Koubba. Several families had already left voluntarily, and the current operation targets those without proper documentation, such as residence permits and other legal papers.
