Muscat: The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) today organized its third dialogue session aimed at enhancing investments in the health sector. The session, titled 'Enhancing SME Investment in the Health Sector,' highlighted the critical role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the industry. According to Oman News Agency, ASMED is focused on several key objectives, including improving the business environment to make it more attractive for SMEs and contributing to the development of supportive policies. The authority encourages entrepreneurs to present innovative ideas that could upgrade economic sectors and identify promising opportunities for growth. The session provided an overview of statistics regarding the future of investment in the health sector, revealing that as many as 2,363 SMEs were registered in ASMED's health sector records by the end of October 2024. The statistics further highlighted the presence of 1,908 microenterprises, 398 thousand SMEs, and 57 medium-si zed enterprises in the health sector. Prominent figures attended the dialogue session, including Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Health Minister, Halima Rashid Al Zari, Chairperson of ASMED, Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Ajmia, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Khalid bin Salim Al Ghamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour, and Eng. Badr Salim Al Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board. Also present were owners of SMEs operating in health sector activities and related fields.
