Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman, hosted Asaad Hasan Al-Shaibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, during an official visit to Oman. The meeting aimed to explore avenues for enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries and to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation.
According to Oman News Agency, the ministers addressed several joint cooperation initiatives, including facilitating procedures for businesspeople and investors. They discussed the operation of direct flights between Oman and Syria and explored opportunities for Omani companies to participate in reconstruction projects in Syria. The talks also focused on enhancing the utilization of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) and improving the movement of land and maritime transport, along with both customs and non-customs procedures.
Both parties underscored the significance of activating the Omani-Syrian Joint Committee to boost coordination in commercial and investment matters. They agreed on dispatching technical delegations from both nations to explore further trade, economic, and investment cooperation opportunities.
The meeting highlighted the commitment of Oman and Syria to strengthen economic cooperation and exchange investment opportunities, aiming to serve common interests and open new horizons for trade integration between the two nations.
