Muscat: The Ministry of Education today felicitated 73 male and female students who won the 2024-2025 Holy Quran Competition. A ceremony to this effect was held under the auspices of Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.

According to Oman News Agency, the competition included three main categories: the 'General Memorization Contest', the 'Special Memorization Contest', and the 'Good Intonation (Tajweed) Contest'. The 'General Memorization Contest' focused on students in the early education stage, encompassing both basic and post-basic education in government and private schools.

The 'Special Memorization Contest' was dedicated to students with disabilities, including those from private schools and institutions that practice auditory and intellectual integration. It specifically targeted students with visual impairments, intellectual disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder.

On the other hand, the 'Good Intonation (Tajweed) Contest' aimed at students who excel in reciting the Holy Quran, emphasizing vocal capabilities and the application of correct pronunciation rules and intonation.

The ceremony showcased the talents of the contestants through readings, a student operetta, a video display, and the presentation of interviews conducted earlier with the participants. Additionally, the event recognized the efforts of the competition organizers.

The Holy Quran Competition aims to highlight the significance of the Holy Quran, reinforce Islamic identity, strengthen Islamic education curricula, enhance students' linguistic abilities, and prepare them for participation in similar local and international competitions.
