National Committee Proposes Strategy for Disability Sector in Oman

Muscat: The National Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities convened today under the leadership of Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development and Chairperson of the Committee, to deliberate on a proposal for a National Strategy for the Disability Sector in the Sultanate of Oman for 2026-2030.

According to Oman News Agency, the committee examined the efforts and actions undertaken to implement functionality-based assessments for persons with disabilities. It also explored the processes involved in distributing prosthetic devices and assistive aids.

Furthermore, the committee deliberated on the decision to restructure the National Committee for Persons with Disabilities and its Technical Committee in accordance with the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The meeting also included a review of a summary report from the Ninth Annual Meeting of the ESCWA Expert Group on Disability, which took place in Cairo last year.
