Muscat: South Al Batinah Municipality today commenced a two-day 'municipal health forum' in the Wilayat of Barka, as part of the Municipality's efforts to enhance institutional integration in food safety and develop the overall municipal work system. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Eng. Masoud bin Said Al Hashmi, Governor of South Al Batinah.
According to Oman News Agency, the forum addresses key challenges and opportunities within the municipal sector and reviews efforts in the areas of food safety, public health, waste management, municipal inspection, and digital transition. The event also explores modern initiatives and smart technologies aimed at increasing municipal performance efficiency and improving the quality of services provided to the community.
The opening ceremony featured visual presentations showcasing the progress of municipal actions in the South Al Batinah Governorate, highlighting their impact on improving quality of life, protecting society, and achieving environmental sustainability. A significant highlight of the event was the launch of a smart inspection kit supported by 'The Internet of Things (IoT)' technology, designed to enhance the accuracy of fieldwork.
An exhibition accompanying the ceremony includes a special gallery for the Department of Health Affairs, which displays efforts made in food safety and veterinary control at municipal slaughterhouses. Other galleries at the exhibition feature joint-stock companies' products and solutions aimed at enhancing public health and precautionary control, aligning with updates in the municipal health work system.
