Cooperation Program to Enhance Joint Statistical Work in GCC Countries

Muscat: The GCC Statistical Centre (GCC-Stat) signed a cooperation program with the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), encompassing several areas of joint work in scientific research, statistical capacity building, and the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise.

According to Oman News Agency, the program involves developing fields of cooperation that include the exchange of studies and research, the implementation of specialized training programs, and the organization of joint scientific conferences and workshops. It also covers the exchange of technical and advisory visits to enhance integration between the two sides in supporting joint GCC statistical work.

The two parties also agreed to form a joint committee responsible for following up on the activation of the cooperation areas and developing an executive plan for the proposed initiatives. This effort aims to contribute to building an integrated GCC statistical knowledge society and enhancing the utilization of data to support development paths across the GCC countries.

This cooperation aligns with the directions of the Strategic Plan for Joint GCC Statistical Work (2026-2030), which aims to develop a smart and reliable GCC statistical system. It further seeks to strengthen scientific and academic partnerships and build qualified statistical cadres capable of employing data science and advanced statistical analysis to support policies and decision-making in the GCC.

Notably, this step is part of the GCC Statistical Centre's commitment to expanding its partnerships with academic and research institutions to support the implementation of joint GCC statistical priorities and enhance the integration between statistical knowledge production and research and scientific applications.
