Xi and Trump Commit to Strengthening China-US Ties in Beijing

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation during their meeting in Beijing today. The summit aims to address several key bilateral and international issues.

According to Oman News Agency, President Xi opened the talks by asserting that China and the United States should be "partners, not rivals." He noted that mutual cooperation benefits both nations, while confrontation remains detrimental to their shared interests. Welcoming President Trump on the first US presidential visit to China since 2017, Xi remarked that "the world stands at a crossroads."

For his part, the US President stated that relations between Washington and Beijing would be "better than ever." He expressed pride in his friendship with the Chinese President, stressing that both countries are poised for a "wonderful future."

President Xi received the US President at the Great Hall of the People. The leaders held talks covering several contentious global files, including trade, Iran, and Taiwan.

President Trump arrived in China for the two-day visit accompanied by a delegation of prominent business leaders, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Elon Musk. Their presence underscores the visit's heavy focus on trade and investment portfolios.
