Muscat: The Municipality of North Al Batinah is actively engaged in the entrance development project in the Wilayat of Liwa, with construction efforts now reaching an impressive 80 percent completion mark. The initiative, valued at RO 2.1 million, aims to enhance infrastructure and improve the urban environment of Liwa's central district.
According to Oman News Agency, Eng. Walid Nasser Al Nabhani, Director of the Projects Department at the Municipality of North Al Batinah, highlighted the project's scope, which includes modern lighting installations, the creation of pedestrian and bicycle pathways for safer and more sustainable transportation, and solutions for stormwater management from the Liwa Roundabout to the Al Zahiyah Tunnel. The development also features landscaping and roadside seating installations.
Al Nabhani elaborated that the project spans approximately 4 kilometres, with current efforts concentrated on finalizing the remaining stages. This project is considered a crucial step in fortifying infrastructure and elevating service quality within the wilaya.
He added that the project incorporates the "Liwa Track," a 2.7-kilometre pathway intended for bicycles, e-bikes, and pedestrians, providing a secure and sustainable corridor for movement. The track is designed to motivate community members to pursue physical activities and embrace healthier, active lifestyles.
