Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, accompanied by President Duma Gideon Boko of the Republic of Botswana, visited the Diamond Hub in the capital, Gaborone today.
According to Oman News Agency, upon His Majesty the Sultan's arrival at the Diamond Hub, he was received by Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy, and the Director-General of the Hub. His Majesty was briefed on the Hub's activities and competences, the stages of work in the diamond sector, and the roles it assumes in sorting and evaluating diamonds, alongside the Hub's efforts in enhancing the added value of this sector.
Thereafter, His Majesty the Sultan toured the Hub's main plant, where he was briefed on the technical operations and technologies employed across the various stages of production. His Majesty listened to an explanation of the technical capabilities and expertise the Hub possesses.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Majesty the Sultan inscribed the Book of Distinguished Guests, extending his thanks and appreciation to those in charge of the Hub, wishing them continued success and prosperity, and commending the work and endeavours the Hub undertakes in the mining sector. His Majesty also accepted a commemorative gift presented by the Hub in celebration of his visit, while he presented a commemorative gift to the Hub as well.
His Majesty the Sultan and the President of the Republic of Botswana participated in the signing of the agreement on Co-Development -Heads of terms Cooperation- Mining Exploration during the visit to the Diamond Hub in Gaborone.
