Dhofar:The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) has successfully concluded its Executive Programme in Local Administration, reinforcing its dedication to nurturing qualified national leadership and promoting sustainable development across Oman's governorates.
According to Oman News Agency, the event was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The programme provided an integrated executive learning experience to 25 local-administration leaders, aiming to enhance their ability to empower governorates and support the Oman Vision 2040.
The curriculum combined contemporary management knowledge with practical application, covering areas such as development planning, project management, effective administration, sustainable development, and local investment. It also addressed innovation, emerging technologies, and strategic planning, alongside the adoption of innovative solutions for digital transformation.
Dr. Ali Qassim Al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management, emphasized the programme's role in establishing a decentralised administrative structure that improves service delivery and development outcomes. He noted the RAM's commitment to preparing leaders capable of driving local development effectively, highlighting the significance of empowering local leaders to advance decentralisation.
Dr. Fathiya Abdullah Al Rashdi, Vice-President for Programme Affairs, described the programme's conclusion as a significant milestone in developing leadership capabilities, noting its strategic value in equipping participants with modern management tools. She remarked on the dynamic platform created for exchanging expertise and engaging with development priorities in local administration.
Shaikha Al Maskari, Programme Supervisor, explained that the programme was a comprehensive applied-learning journey, equipping professionals with practical tools for planning and implementation. Participants applied real workplace contexts to develop initiatives and sustainable partnerships.
The programme included a study visit to Morocco, offering insights into advanced local administration practices. Participants commended the programme for enhancing their professional skills, with Eng. Siham Al Miyahi from South Al Batinah Governorate highlighting its impact on her strategic planning and partnership-building capabilities.
An exhibition at the closing ceremony showcased projects developed during the programme, such as sustainable solutions for fish waste, mountain-tourism experiences, and agricultural propagation initiatives. These projects demonstrated the practical application of the knowledge gained, contributing to sustainable development in Oman's governorates.
