Sur:A seminar titled "Optimal Planning Towards Resilient Infrastructure" began today in the Wilayat of Sur, Governorate of South A'Sharqiyah. Organized by the Oman Water Society in collaboration with the Governorate of South A'Sharqiyah and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the event aims to address critical infrastructure challenges.
According to Oman News Agency, the seminar was inaugurated under the patronage of Dr. Yahya Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South A'Sharqiyah. It features participation from specialists, experts, and representatives from government and private entities, as well as academic institutions.
The seminar focuses on integrating scientific knowledge with practical experience to foster effective exchange of expertise across various sectors. It seeks to translate these experiences into practical solutions that enhance the resilience, flexibility, and sustainability of infrastructure, aligning with Oman Vision 2040.
Key topics include planning for adaptable infrastructure to meet challenges posed by climatic phenomena and emergencies, thereby enhancing readiness, mitigating risks, and ensuring the sustainability of essential services. Panel discussions are set to cover the impact of climate change on infrastructure, emergency management, and sustainable urban planning, alongside reviewing regional and international practices and lessons learned from past emergencies in Oman.
