Agreement Signed on Health-Promoting Schools Initiative

Muscat: The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Works today signed a cooperation agreement to support the "Health-Promoting Schools" initiative. The initiative aims to provide a safe and health-enhancing educational environment that enables students to improve their academic performance, acquire essential life skills, and integrate into society.

According to Oman News Agency, the agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education; Sulaiman bin Nasser Al Hiji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Dina Al Khalili, Director General of Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Works.

Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi emphasized the significance of this five-year initiative in enhancing students' health environment, which serves as a key tool impacting their academic achievement. He noted that 566 schools across various educational directorates in the governorates have participated in the initiative since its launch, implementing its programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Works.

Sulaiman bin Nasser Al Hiji highlighted that the initiative arises from a strategic partnership aimed at promoting health in school environments. This involves improving learning conditions, preventing diseases, reducing absenteeism, supporting mental well-being, and instilling healthy habits to enable students to focus and learn effectively.

Dina Al Khalili reiterated that the strategic partnership reflects a convergence of health and education efforts, sharing a vision to provide a healthy school environment that enhances academic success and life skills development. She affirmed the foundation's commitment to creating a sustainable impact for students and society.

Al Jisr Foundation plans to fund sustainable projects for three schools that achieve the highest gold-level rating in the initiative over five years. The foundation will oversee the initiative's implementation and work with specialized teams from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health to develop a visual identity and operational guide. An electronic platform is also being prepared, with a launch planned for a later stage.
