Arab League, OIC condemn Israel’s aggression in the occupied territories and killing of Palestinians

CAIRO/JEDDAH, The Cairo-based League of Arab States and the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in two separate statements published today the Israeli army aggression against the Palestinian people, particularly the killing this morning of three Palestinians in Jenin.

Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories, Saeed Abu Ali, called on the international community to assume its moral, humanitarian, as well as political and legal responsibilities and to act immediately and pressure Israel to put an end to its aggression and to prosecute and hold the occupation accountable for its crimes.

He urged the international community to stop its double standards by taking actual measures and holding the occupation authorities accountable for what he described as its “open war” against the Palestinians in accordance with the principles and provisions of international law and providing international protection for the Palestinian people.

The OIC also condemned the Israeli assault on Jenin and the killing of three Palestinians, as well as its aggression against the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, schools, and Palestinian properties, stressing that these crimes and others demand investigation and accountability.

It held Israel, the occupying Power, “fully responsible for the repercussions of its continued criminal aggression against the Palestinian people,” calling on the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, “to shoulder its responsibilities in putting an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression and providing international protection for the Palestinian people.”
