A’Saffa Foods Expands Broiler Production to Meet Local and GCC Market Demands

Muscat: The new expansion of A'Saffa Foods has significantly increased its annual production capacity of broiler chickens to approximately 60 million birds, with a daily slaughtering capacity reaching 200,000 birds. This strategic move aims to meet local market demands for poultry products and explore broader marketing and export opportunities within the GCC region.

According to Oman News Agency, Hamdoon Abdullah Al Saqri, Chief Commercial Officer of A'Saffa Foods, highlighted that the expansion is a strategic investment in the future of the poultry industry. It aims to develop a more efficient and competitive production system, enhancing the company's ability to serve the local market and contribute to food security while providing a base for regional market expansion, particularly in the GCC.

The company's integrated system includes around 225 broiler farms, hatcheries with a capacity of 72 million eggs, and feed mills capable of producing about 130,000 metric tons annually. This integration is crucial in maintaining product quality, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the overall value chain. The comprehensive production chain-from feed, hatcheries, and farms to processing and distribution-enables A'Saffa Foods to control operations, improve quality, and utilize resources more efficiently.

Modern technologies, automation, and smart systems are key components in the company's operational development. These advancements help manage farms, hatcheries, and feed mills more effectively, supporting increased productivity, reducing waste, and optimizing water, energy, and feed usage. The company's strategy emphasizes investment in technology to elevate efficiency and competitiveness in the food industry.

The expansion comes as local capabilities in food production become increasingly important. The growth of the poultry industry aids in providing local products, reducing reliance on imports, and stabilizing food supply chains. The new production capacity allows A'Saffa Foods to enhance its commercial presence beyond the local market, particularly in the GCC, which serves as a natural extension for Omani products.

The expansion impacts various sector-related activities, including feed, veterinary services, transport, storage, refrigeration, packaging, marketing, and logistics services. The Chief Commercial Officer noted that this expansion positions the company for a new phase of growth, combining increased production, modern technology, local market enhancement, and export development, thereby bolstering the competitiveness of the poultry sector and its contribution to the national economy and food security system.
