Muscat: The total number of registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman reached approximately 1,896,956 by the end of June 2026, reflecting a rise of 5.5 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.
According to Oman News Agency, statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that private vehicles constituted the majority, numbering 1,503,239. Commercial vehicles followed with a total of 281,217. Additional categories included rental vehicles at 44,817 and taxis numbering 28,859. Government vehicles totaled 11,764, while temporary vehicles accounted for 10,961.
Motorcycles experienced the highest growth rate among all registration types at 10.7 percent. Their numbers increased from 8,712 at the end of June 2025 to 9,005 by the end of June 2026.
Furthermore, the data revealed that vehicles weighing less than 3 tons were predominant, with a total of 1,720,196. In contrast, vehicles weighing between 7 and 10 tons amounted to 80,736, and those exceeding 10 tons numbered 54,912.
