Bahrain set to host IPC General Assembly

His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, expressed his deep gratitude for the Kingdom of Bahrain’s selection to host the 2023 IPC General Assembly and Conference.

He emphasized that this achievement reflects Bahrain’s unwavering commitment to sports and its growing prominence in the global sports community. In particular, he highlighted the country’s dedication to supporting Para sports.

He noted that the Bahrain Paralympic Committee has become a hub of expertise in various Para sports. Overall, hosting the 2023 IPC General Assembly and Conference is a significant milestone for Bahrain and Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC) at all levels.

The BPC successfully secured the hosting rights for the 2023 IPC General Assembly and Conference, amid several countries competing for the opportunity. The event will take place in Bahrain from 27-29 September 2023, following the previous IPC General Assembly held remotely in 2021.

He acknowledged the outstanding support towards the Paralympic Movement from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the country’s monarch, and the interest shown by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He acknowledged the pivotal role played by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Adviser and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, in advancing the field of sports and its associated organizations, particularly Paralympic sports.

Under his direction, the Kingdom of Bahrain has successfully hosted several significant events, including the most important international meetings and world championships, which have greatly enhanced its global standing in the sporting world.

His Highness praised the tremendous efforts of the BPC, led by Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, in working with sincerity and dedication to empower Para athletes who bring honor to the Kingdom of Bahrain in national and international forums.

The Committee has also played a prominent role in hosting various national and international games, and in achieving significant accomplishments in Paralympic sports.

President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, expressed his gratitude to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for entrusting the Kingdom of Bahrain with the responsibility of hosting the 2023 IPC General Assembly and Conference.

He also highlighted the Committee’s commitment to presenting proposals and supporting initiatives that contribute to the development of international Paralympic sports.

The IPC is the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement. It coordinates the organization of both the Paralympic Games and the Paralympic Winter Games. The IPC serves as the International Federation for six Para sports, overseeing and coordinating world championships and other competitions. The IPC’s vision is to make for an inclusive world through Para sport.
