Jaalan bani bu ali: The competitions of the Sayh Al Ramth Camel Racing Festival for the 2025-2026 season concluded today in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, South A'Sharqiyah Governorate. The event was organized by the Camel Racing Committee of the wilayat.
According to Oman News Agency, the closing ceremony was patronized by Mohammed Humaid Al Ghabshi, Wali of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, in the presence of Sheikh Said Saud Al Ghufaili, Chairman of Oman Camel Racing Association, alongside camel owners and a large gathering of enthusiasts of the sport.
The festival was held in recognition of the importance of supporting camel owners and encouraging their continued dedication to the sport, while also providing a competitive platform to showcase the capabilities of participating camels and reinforce the presence of camel racing among the Sultanate of Oman's sporting and heritage events.
The festival programme featured six races, in which competing camels vied for top honours in contests that reflected their readiness and the quality of their preparation. The organizing committee awarded vehicles to the winners of the first places across all six races.
The festival exemplifies the enduring presence of camel racing in Omani society, representing a deeply rooted connection to the nation's cultural and sporting heritage, and embodying values associated with the care, training, and competitive preparation of camels.
