Muscat: Nama Electricity Distribution Company continues to implement a package of development projects in Al Wusta Governorate with a total cost exceeding RO 28,425,000. These projects include connecting the electrical grid in the governorate's wilayats to the main grid, increasing the capacity and efficiency of the distribution network in the governorate, as well as enhancing its flexibility, thereby boosting the system's reliability, reducing losses, and achieving compliance with grid security standards.
According to Oman News Agency, this initiative is part of Nama Electricity Distribution Company's strategic plans aimed at enhancing the reliability of the electrical grid and expanding its service scope to keep pace with the requirements of urban and economic growth in the governorate's wilayats.
Eng. Mohammed Rashid Al Qari, Director General of Major Projects at Nama Electricity Distribution Company, confirmed that these projects fall within the development plans executed by the company to enhance the efficiency of the electrical grid and increase its capacity, in line with the urban expansion and rapid population and economic growth in the Wilayats of Duqm, Al Jazer, and Mahout in particular.
He emphasized the company's commitment to executing projects according to approved timelines, with full adherence to quality and operational safety standards. These projects are expected to contribute significantly to enhancing the stability of the electrical grid service and improving the quality of supply to subscribers of this essential service across various sectors.
Al Qari detailed the ongoing projects, which include the construction of three substations with feeders in the Wilayats of Al Jazer and Duqm at a cost of RO 12,388,256; the construction of the distribution system connected to the main station in the Wilayat of Al Jazer at a cost of RO 4,676,831; the construction of the Hij substation with feeders in the Wilayat of Mahout valued at RO 582,169; the construction of the Khaloof substation with feeders in the Wilayat of Mahout at a cost of RO 1,185,601; the construction of the Al Najdah substation with feeders in the Wilayat of Mahout at a cost of RO 3,641,689; the construction of the new Sarab substation with voltage feeders in the Wilayat of Mahout at a cost of RO 1,336,809; and the construction of the distribution system connected to the Duqm main station and Mahout main station at a cost of RO 4,614,561.
The Director General of Major Projects at Nama Electricity Distribution Company affirmed that these projects aim to connect the distribution network in these wilayats to the main electrical system and enhance supply reliability in Al Wusta Governorate, thereby supporting the economic and urban development process and meeting the needs of growing demand in the governorate's wilayats.
