Palestine confirms 103 new coronavirus cases, one death

Palestine today confirmed 103 new Covid-19 cases and one death, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

She announced that 103 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and another died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 103 cases, eight cases were recorded in the West Bank and 95 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

She identified the death case as a resident of the besieged Gaza Strip.

She added that 171 Covid-19 patients recovered; 31 recovery cases in the West Bank and 140 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that six Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, and 12 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Covid-19 dispensaries.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 98.3 percent, while active cases declined to 0.6 percent. The death toll stood at 1.1 percent of total infections.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 523,223 people have received their first jab of the vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, including 375,933 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.

Palestine registers 77 COVID-19 cases, three deaths

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 77 new cases of COVID-19, three deaths and 224 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the past 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said two deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the Gaza Strip, while only one death was reported in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

In the Gaza Strip, 56 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had only 21 new cases. No updates were available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The health minister said five patients of COVID-19 are under intensive care, but none of them is intubated. In addition, 11 patients are being hospitalized for COVID-19 illness.

Alkaila pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 98.3 percent, while active cases declined to 0.6 percent.

Deaths stood at 1.1 percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the health minister said over 516,400 people have received their first jab of the vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, of whom 372,000 received both doses.

For the first time, a drop in number of cases of coronavirus in Palestine to less than 100 in 24 hours

Palestine recorded less than 100 new cases of coronavirus in less than 24, the first in a while, and no deaths, according to Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.

She said in her daily report on coronavirus in Palestine that the West Bank had eight new cases and three recoveries, while the Gaza Strip recorded 75 new cases and 134 recoveries.

Alkaila said 11 corona patients are getting treatment in hospitals, while five are in intensive care. No one is currently on a ventilator.

The drop in number of positive cases could be attributed to the vaccination as 437,448 people have been vaccinated against the corona disease in the West Bank and 78,620 in the Gaza Strip.

President Abbas re-instates state of emergency in Palestine over COVID-19

President Mahmoud Abbas today re-instated the state of emergency in Palestine to combat the coronavirus pandemic for 30 days.

The state of emergency was first declared in March 2020 after the discovery of the first cases of coronavirus in the Palestinian territories and has been extended or re-instated every 30 days since then.

Palestinian law allows a one-time extension of the state of emergency, and if it has to be extended for a longer time, a new declaration should be issued.

The state of emergency gives the government the power to act in any way it deems necessary to combat the corona pandemic.

Palestine records 121 new coronavirus cases, five deaths

Palestine today recorded 121 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.

She announced that 121 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and five others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 121 cases, 13 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 108 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as two residents of Jenin district and three others of the Gaza Strip.

She added that 110 Covid-19 patients recovered; eight recovery cases in the West Bank and 102 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that nine Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including two who are connected to ventilators, while 15 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 98.2 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020, active cases for 0.7 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 516,013 people have received the vaccine so far, including 371,706 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.

Two die of coronavirus in Palestine in the past 24 hours, 121 new cases recorded

Alkaila said 14 corona patients remain hospitalized, including eight who are in intensive care, among them two are on respirator.

She said 98.2 percent of the total people infected with the disease since its outbreak in Palestine in March of last year have recovered, while 0.7 percent remain active, and 1.1 percent have died.

A total of 433,815 people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus in the West Bank and 75,897 in the Gaza Strip.

She added that 140 Covid-19 patients recovered; seven recovery cases in the West Bank and 133 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that eight Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including two who are connected to ventilators. In addition, 14 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Covid-19 dispensaries.
