Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority Initiates External Audit for ISO Certification

Muscat:The Directorate General of Ambulance at the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority has embarked on the external audit phase for its Quality Management System in line with the international standard ISO 9001:2015. This initiative is part of the authority's ongoing efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of its operations, reinforcing governance, continuous improvement, and institutional excellence.

According to Oman News Agency, the audit process began with an opening session led by Lt. Colonel Hani Al Kiyumi, the Acting Director General of Ambulance. It included a visual presentation about the Directorate General of Ambulance, followed by the initiation of audit procedures across relevant departments and supporting operations.

The audit aims to verify the readiness of the Quality Management System by reviewing documents and procedures and assessing the system's actual implementation. It will also evaluate the effectiveness of operations, the achievement of objectives, and the monitoring of performance indicators, risk management, and opportunities for improvement.

Key departments under review include the Medical Governance Department, the Medical Guidance and Supervision Department, and the Technical Affairs and Operations Department, along with their associated support functions in procurement, equipment, technology, transport, and human resources.

This external audit marks the final stage in the implementation of the Quality Management System at the Directorate General of Ambulance. It follows previous phases of documenting and developing procedures, identifying risks and opportunities, setting objectives, and conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with the international standard.

The audit is a crucial step toward obtaining the ISO 9001:2015 certification, which will further enhance the sustainability of the Quality Management System and improve the performance and quality of ambulance services.
