Despite international objections, Israel keeps remanding World Vision’s Gaza head in prison for the 5th year

RAMALLAH, An Israeli court today remanded for 90 more days the former head of Gaza’s World Vision office, Mohammad Halabi, 42, following his 167th court hearing in an effort to get him to confess to the charges against him, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).

It said that Halabi, who was first detained in 2016, underwent severe interrogation for 52 straight days following his arrest and was tortured to get him to confess to charges of bringing in money for Hamas movement in Gaza, which he totally denied.

Israel hopes that in time and under duress, Halabi is going to confess to the charges levied against him.

Several international organizations have protested Halab’s arrest and demanded his immediate release.

Halabi is married and a father to five children.
