Dozens of Palestinians march in Ramallah to demand Israel release the bodies of slain Palestinians

RAMALLAH, Dozens of Palestinians marched today in Ramallah streets to demand Israel release the bodies of Palestinians killed by its forces and are being held in morgues and numbered cemeteries.

A statement issued by the families of slain Palestinians whose bodies are withheld by Israel said this march came in response to a call made by Palestinian prisoner Samer al-Issawi, who has been on an open-ended hunger strike for the past 16 days to demand the release of bodies withheld by Israel.

Be noted, the number of slain Palestinians held in Israeli morgues has reached 118 since 2015, the last of whom was 18-year-old Mohammed Souf, who was shot dead by Israeli forces’ gunfire yesterday near Salfit.

Among the withheld bodies, nine martyrs had died while in Israeli custody, in addition to 13 children and two women.

Israel continues to hold the corpses of 256 slain Palestinians in numbered cemeteries where the graves are identified by numbers rather than names.

Israel withholds the bodies of Palestinian killed by its forces to use them as a bargaining chip in any future exchange negotiations.
