CAIRO, The Egyptian Foreign Ministry condemned, in the strongest terms, the heinous assassination of Al-Jazeera correspondent, Shireen Abu Akleh, in Jenin camp in the West Bank.
The ministry in a statement slammed this crime against the Palestinian journalist while performing her work as a flagrant violation of the rules and principles of international humanitarian law and a blatant infringement on the freedom of the press, media, and the right of expression, calling for a comprehensive investigation.
The ministry expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased and to all the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate condemned the crime of assassinating Abu Akleh, calling for opening an extensive international investigation into this crime and the repeated crimes of the occupying forces against Palestinian journalists in violation of all international laws.
