Palestinian freedom fighters in the Israeli prisons continued today, for the eighth day in a row, their struggle steps in rejection of the repressive measures of the fascist Israeli cabinet minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, which the Israeli Prison Services (IPS) has announced that it intends to start imposing them in the prisons, today said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
It said the freedom fighters will take a more dramatic step in their struggle in the middle of next week, according to a program agreed on by all the factions and approved by the Supreme Emergency Committee for Prisoners.
The PPS pointed out that the prisoners confirmed, through several messages, that this battle will be at the level and extent of the unprecedented threats of the occupation authorities against the prisoners and their families, especially in Jerusalem, and that it will culminate with a hunger strike starting on the first day of the fast month of Ramadan, which is expected to start on March 23.
It said the IPS at Nafha prison in the Naqab desert started to impose its first abusive measures, which came at the recommendation of Ben Gvir, in which that amount of hot water for a shower will be limited and that the shower rooms will be open for only one hour between 7 and 8 in the morning. It said this procedure was applied to the new sections in Nafha prison, which are three sections where 360 freedom fighters are held.
Over the past week, the IPS escalated its measures in various prisons and the repression forces stormed sections in Gilboa prison, imposing collective punishment against the prisoners.
The Palestinian freedom fighters in Israeli prisons started on February 14 what they referred to as a mutiny in protest against the new repressive measures of Ben Gvir, mainly obstructing the so-called security check, where the prisoners are taken out while they are handcuffed, and instead of this procedure taking place in a specific and short period of time, it takes hours for the IPS to conduct it.
The freedom fighters have also called in a statement on the Palestinian people to take part in a day of rage on Friday in support of the prisoners and Jerusalem.
There are currently 4780 freedom fighters incarcerated in Israeli prisons until the end of January, including 29 women and 160 minors.
