Foreign Minister urges EU to expedite aid allocation to the Palestinian Authority facing financial strains

ANTALYA, In a meeting today with the European Union’s Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Malki urged the EU to overcome technical and other obstacles and resume financial support for the Palestinian Authority in light of the decline in international aid during the past years.

Malki met with Varhelyi on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, held in the Turkish sea resort city, and briefed him on the latest developments in Palestine in light of the financial crisis facing the Palestinian government, as well as the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people at all levels.

He stressed the importance and urgency of the EU expediting its financial allocations to the Palestinian government in order to enable it to continue providing basic services to the Palestinian people, in addition to supporting development projects in all the Palestinian territories.

For his part, Varhelyi affirmed the European Union’s constant and ongoing support for the peace process in the Middle East, and the importance of continuing joint cooperation between the European Union and Palestine.
