Foreign Minister urges world to take deterrent measures against Israel’s violations

RAMALLAH, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Al-Maliki called today on the international community, the United Nations and the UN Security Council to go beyond the framework of condemnations and take practical steps to stop the violations and crimes of the Israeli occupation and settlers against the Palestinian people.

During his meeting today in Ramallah with members of the diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Palestine, Al-Maliki underscored the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, the bloody platform and the inciting rhetoric of the new Israeli government, and the continuing aggression by the Israeli occupation forces and armed settler militias against the Palestinian people.

The Foreign Minister stressed that the Palestinian diplomacy is mobilizing an international front that rejects occupation and settlement in order to achieve international justice for our people, despite the volume of restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on the movement of Palestinian officials.

Meantime, Al-Maliki welcomed the statement endorsed by more than 100 countries which rejects the Israeli retaliatory measures against the Palestinian people and leadership, as well as against Palestinian and international human rights defenders and civil society organizations.

“This is an important collective position that defends the standing of the International Court of Justice, the United Nations General Assembly and the entire international system,” he said.

Al-Maliki also affirmed that the Israeli government is taking advantage of international double standards in order to implement its colonial agendas to undermine any opportunity to achieve peace and end its occupation and colonization of the land of the State of Palestine.

He added that the Palestinian people are paying a heavy price as a result of these double standards, calling on the international community to uphold its responsibilities and pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop his racist agenda and illegal unilateral measures.

Al-Maliki also called on states to take practical and deterrent steps to reject and confront the illegal measures and policies and the racist platform of the Israeli government, as well as its systematic violations of international law, including UN Security Council resolutions.
