Foreign Ministry calls on Int’l community, US administration to assume responsibility towards Israeli crime

RAMALLAH, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today called on the international community and the US administration to assume their legal and moral responsibilities towards the violations and crimes of the Israeli occupation, mainly the crime of settlement.

In a statement, the Ministry urged the international community and the US administration to fulfill their obligations by taking the necessary legal measures to compel the occupying power to stop its violations and aggression and to pressure Israel to start serious negotiations that lead to ending the occupation of the Palestinian lands.

The international efforts that are not resolving the conflict itself have given the occupying power more time to pounce on the remaining opportunities to implement the principle of the two-state solution, said the statement.

The ministry held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for expanding settlements, Israelizing and Judaizing Jerusalem as well as trying to separate the holy city from its Palestinian surroundings.

The ministry pointed out that the Israeli government is exploiting the international situation and racing against time to implement its expansionist colonial project and to establish the apartheid system in occupied Palestine, in an attempt to unilaterally resolve the final-status negotiation issues forcibly.

It described Israel’s practices and plans as a coup against the signed agreements, stressing that this confirms not only the absence of an Israeli peace partner but also the Israeli government’s hostility to peace.

The ministry also condemned Israeli settlement in all its forms, including the expansion of existing settlements and outposts, the construction of other new outposts, and theft, confiscation, and bulldozing of Palestinian lands at the hands of the occupying forces and settlers.
