Government Treasury Bills Issued Total RO 18 Million

Muscat:First paragraph of the news story. The total issuance of Government Treasury Bills amounted to RO 18 million, with various maturity periods and interest rates.

According to Oman News Agency, the value of the allotted Treasury bills for a 28-day maturity period was RO 3 million. The average accepted price was RO 99.715 for every RO 100, with an average discount rate of 3.71518% and an average yield of 3.72580%.

For a 91-day maturity period, the value of the allotted Treasury bills reached RO 8 million. The average accepted price was RO 98.975 per RO 100, while the average discount rate and yield were 4.11126% and 4.15384%, respectively.

Additionally, Treasury bills worth RO 7 million were allotted for a 182-day maturity period. The average accepted price was RO 98.000 for every RO 100, with an average discount rate of 4.01099% and an average yield of 4.09285%.

Issued by the Ministry of Finance, Treasury Bills are short-term, highly secured financial instruments that allow licensed commercial banks to invest surplus funds. The Central Bank of Oman acts as the Issue Manager, providing liquidity through discounting and repurchase facilities.

The interest rate on Repo operations with the Central Bank of Oman is 4.5%, while the discount rate on the Treasury Bills Discounting Facility is 5%. These instruments also help to promote the local money market by creating a benchmark yield curve for short-term interest rates and can be used by the Government to finance recurrent expenditures.
