HH Sayyid Fahd Receives Shura Council Chairman, Members of Council’s Office

HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, and some members of the Council of Ministers today received Khalid Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of the Shura Council, and members of the Shura Council’s Office.

The meeting was held within the framework of joint coordination between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman.

Then, the two sides held a joint meeting, as stipulated by in the Basic Law of the State and Council of Oman’s Law. The meeting aimed to enhance the process of continuous coordination among all establishments of the state. It underlined a conviction on the need to arrive at common visions for supporting programmes to promote economic and social aspects.

At the outset of the meeting, HH Sayyid Fahd commended the Shura Council’s stance in cooperating with the government for maintaining efforts to serve Oman and its citizens, while at the same time advancing the supreme interest of the country.

HH Sayyid Fahd spoke about a number of points that enhance cooperation between the two councils within their strive to consolidate joint coordination.

During the joint meeting, emphasis was laid on the government’s giving priority to initiatives that support the role of the Shura Council as a partner in the national action aimed at implementing the plans of comprehensive development.

In pursuance of this approach, service ministers will answer Shura Council requests to present and discuss ministerial statements on ways to carry out projects that focus on providing the best services to citizens. This is in addition to dealing positively with the Shura Council’s proposals about plans and programmes that are implemented at each stage.

The joint meeting reviewed the agenda, which included many topics, among them steps to activate the role of the joint ministerial coordination committee.

The panel has a mandate to enhance joint cooperation between the two sides towards promoting the goals of sustainable development.

On its part, the Shura Council would continue to spread social awareness about all that provides a realistic representation of the joint national action.

The Chairman of Shura Council and members of the Shura Council’s office underscored the significance of the meeting. They touched on various visions for maintaining joint coordination between the Council of Ministers and the Shura Council. They also expressed thanks to the government and its enlightened leadership for their keenness on consolidating pillars of constructive cooperation between the two councils. They expressed the confidence that the outcome of the meeting would enhance joint coordination aimed at maintaining Oman’s accomplishments made as part of its march of progress and prosperity.
