Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Decree (88) of 2024, restructuring the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), based on a proposal by the Prime Minister and following the approval of the Cabinet. The decree outlines significant changes in the leadership and membership of the council. According to Bahrain News Agency, Article I of the decree appoints His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as the President of the Supreme Council for Environment. Article II further details the appointment of members including His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa as Vice President and a series of ministers from various governmental sectors such as Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Oil and Environment, Transportation and Telecommunications, Works, Electricity and Water Affairs, Health, and Industry and Commerce, along with the CEO of the SCE. The membership term for the board is set to last four years, with the possibility of renewal. Article III mandates the P rime Minister and the respective ministers to implement the provisions of this decree, which is effective immediately and will be published in the Official Gazette.
