Brussels: In honour of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of the Belgians and Queen Mathilde hosted an official dinner at the Royal Castle of Laeken. The event marked a significant moment in the diplomatic relations between Oman and Belgium, with both sides expressing mutual respect and a commitment to further collaboration. According to Oman News Agency, prior to the dinner, the official delegation accompanying His Majesty the Sultan engaged in a formal greeting with the King and Queen of the Belgians. The Belgian Royal Anthem and the Omani Royal Anthem were played, setting a ceremonious tone for the evening. His Majesty Sultan Haitham delivered a speech highlighting the constructive dialogue and fruitful consultations held earlier with the King and the Belgian Prime Minister. He emphasized the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, underscoring milestones such as the Belgian King's visit to Oman in February 2022 and the launch of significant projects like the Duqm Port and the Hyport's Green Hydrogen Production Project. The King of the Belgians reciprocated with a speech acknowledging Oman's strategic position and historical importance in global trade. He praised the strong cultural and commercial exchanges that have been fostered over the years and expressed enthusiasm for further developing economic and diplomatic ties. The King highlighted the strategic partnership between the Port of Duqm and Antwerp Port, as well as recent green hydrogen development agreements, as testaments to the innovative collaboration between the two nations. The dinner, attended by members of the official Omani delegation and senior Belgian officials, featured musical performances, adding to the evening's ambiance. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to addressing global challenges and upholding international law, with the King of the Belgians commending Oman's efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region.
