In Jenin, soldiers snatch former prisoner, detainee placed in administrative detention, prisoners approach 20 years behind bars

In the northern West Bank city of Jenin, undercover Israeli soldiers snatched a former prisoner, occupation authorities placed a detainee in administrative detention, and four Palestinian political prisoners complete 18 and 20 years behind bars.

Palestinian security sources said an undercover Israeli army unit raided early this morning the family home of former prisoner Ahmad Jafar in Jenin and detained him.

The soldiers entered the neighborhood in cars with Palestinian plates to snatch Jafar from his home. At least 20 army jeeps then raided the area to secure the withdrawal of the undercover unit, said sources.

Residents clashed with the soldiers during the raid, said the sources. There were no reports of injuries.

At the same time, the Israeli military authorities at Ofer army camp near Ramallah placed Ghassan Atrash in administrative detention for three months.

Atrash family told WAFA that their son, who has been in detention, was placed in administrative detention without appearing before a military court and without any charges, but rather based on secret evidence.

Meanwhile, the Jenin office of the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said today that three prisoners in Israeli jails from the Jenin area – one serving a life sentence, another 35 years, and the third 25 years for their resistance of the Israeli occupation – have completed 18 years behind bars.

A fourth prisoner also from the Jenin area, sentenced to 27 years, has completed 20 years behind bars, said the PPS.
