Israel to raze family houses of slain Palestinians in northern West Bank

JENIN, The Israeli occupation authorities are set to raze the family houses of two Palestinians who were killed at a checkpoint outside the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Hani Abed said that he was informed of the occupation authorities’ decision to tear down the houses of Ahmed Ayman Abed, 23, and Abdulrahman Hani Abed, 22, cousins from Kafr Dan, who were killed after they carried out a shooting at Jalama military checkpoint that resulted in the death of an Israeli soldier on September 14.

The two were killed at the Jalama checkpoint after a gunfight with Israeli soldiers stationed in the area.

He added that the demolition of the two houses, which occupy an area of 250 square meters, would be carried out within the coming four days, that is by the end of this month.

Israeli forces have already ransacked the houses and took measurements to map out them in preparation for the demolition.

Israel resorts to punitively demolish the family homes of Palestinians- as a means of deterrence- accused of being involved in attacks against Israelis, a policy that Israel does not apply to Israeli settlers who were involved in fatal attacks against Palestinians.

The policy was widely condemned by human rights groups as “a collective punishment” and “a war crime and crime against humanity”.
