JRUSALEM, Israeli occupation forces tonight attacked Palestinians celebrating in the Damascus Gate area in occupied Jerusalem in the aftermath of Morocco’s qualification for the semi-finals of the Qatar World Cup 2022.
Scores of Israeli police officers, some of them on horseback, assaulted the Palestinian fans and chased them in the vicinity of the Damascus Gate plaza, all the way to Salaheddine Street.
No injuries or arrests were reported until now.
Thousands of Palestinians took to the streets across all of Palestine earlier tonight to celebrate the Moroccan national team’s victory 1-0 against Portugal and the subsequent qualification to the semi-finals of the World Cup.
The cheerful fans waved Moroccan and Palestinian flags and pictures of the Moroccan national team’s players.
