Israeli settlers attack olive-harvesters in Burin

HEBRON, Hardcore Israeli settlers today attacked Palestinian olive-harvesters and farmers in the village of Burin, to the south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Bashar Abu Eid, a local Palestinian farmer, told WAFA that a group of Israeli settlers, guarded by army, from the nearby illegal Israeli settlement of Givat Ronin attacked Palestinian farmers while working in their own lands on the outskirts of the village.

He said Israeli soldiers present at the scene did nothing to stop the attack on the olive-harvesting farmers.

Settlers regularly attack Palestinian farmers during the annual olive harvest season and sometimes steal their crops or prevent them from reaching their lands, in addition to destroying or cutting down olive trees.

The olive harvest season is considered the most important for thousands of Palestinian families in the Israeli-occupied territories due to its contribution to the families’ income bracket.
