Israeli settlers attack Palestinian homes south of Hebron with stones, elderly injured

A disabled Palestinian elderly woman was injured during an Israeli settlers’ attack on Palestinian residents’ homes at-Tiwani, east of Masafer Yatta, south of the southern West Bank district of Hebron, according to a local official.

Head of at-tiwani village council, Mohammed Rabee, told WAFA a number of settlers from the illegal Israeli settlement of Havat Maon settlement attacked Palestinian residents’ homes with stones, under the protection of Israeli army soldiers, causing injuries to a 70-year-old woman with motor disabilities who was sitting at her porch at the time of the attack.

Coordinator of the Anti-Wall and Settlement Committees Rateb al-Jabour, told WAFA Israeli settlers and forces’ attacks against Palestinians in at-Tiwani village are aimed at forcing them out of the area for the benefit of expanding the aforementioned settlement.

The village residents stressed the need for local and international organizations to take action to provide them with protection and stop the Israeli attacks against them.

“Settler violence has long since become part of Palestinians’ daily life under occupation. Israeli security forces enable these actions, which result in Palestinians casualties – injuries and fatalities – as well as damage to land and property. In some cases, they even serve as an armed escort, or even join in the attacks. Investigations, if even opened, are usually closed with no action taken against perpetrators as part of an undeclared policy of leniency. The long-term effect of this violence is the dispossession of Palestinians from increasing parts of the West Bank, making it easier for Israel to take over land and resources,” said the Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories, B’Tselem.
