Israeli settlers raze road near Bethlehem

Israeli settlers Monday razed a road in the town of Tuqu’, southeast of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to local sources.

Tayseer Abu Mefreh, head of the Tuqu’ municipality, told WAFA that armed settlers raided the area east of the town, accompanied by two bulldozers, and proceeded to raze a settler-only road in a land owned by the family Abu Hmeid, who own legal papers that prove their ownership of it.

He added that the land owners attempted fighting off the settlers to prevent them from razing the road but the latter opened fire at them and even tried to run them over with the bulldozer.

Abu Mefreh said the settlers aim to seize hundreds of donums in favor of expanding an outpost around the area, which is built already on Palestinian land.
