Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a series of diplomatic and political contacts on Sunday, as part of following up on the arising conditions and the repeated Israeli threats against Lebanon. The Prime Minister stressed during the contacts he made that "the solution remains in reaching a total ceasefire and the full implementation of international resolution 1701, to get rid of the useless cycle of violence and not to be dragged into escalation that further complicates matters and leads to undesirable consequences." During these contacts, PM Mikati reiterated the Lebanese government's position of "condemning all forms of violence against civilians", underlining that "a sustainable ceasefire on all fronts is the only possible solution to prevent further human losses and to avoid further deterioration of the situation on the ground." Mikati emphasized that "the Lebanese position is understood by all friends of Lebanon", and that "contacts are ongoing in more than one international, European and Arab direction to protect Lebanon and ward off dangers." In this context, the Prime Minister was briefed by Caretaker Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister, Abdallah Bou Habib, on the outcome of the ongoing contacts he held as well.
