Muscat: A meeting was held today for the sector coordinators of the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM), alongside representatives of the relevant military, security, and civil authorities. The meeting was chaired by Maj Gen Abdullah Ali Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations and Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Emergency Management.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting aimed to follow up on the latest developments regarding the grounded ship incident off the coast of Al Qibliya Island, located within the Al Hallaniyat Islands archipelago. The focus was on the efforts to contain the impacts of the oil spill leaking from the vessel.
The meeting, held at the National Center for Emergency Management, involved a review of the coordinated actions taken to mitigate the spill. Attendees listened to a detailed statement by the Chairman of the Environment Authority. Representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, along with other relevant sectors, provided insights on the potential impacts of the incident and the mechanisms for managing them.
