Muscat: The "Omani Traditional Games Season 2026" kicked off at Al Dahariz Beach in Salalah today. The 3-day event, which coincides with Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season, is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
According to Oman News Agency, the event seeks to promote public awareness and familiarize visitors to the Governorate of Dhofar about Oman's rich heritage in traditional games and sports. It also lends support to the tourism sector by offering a programme of sport activities, including Dhofar Governorate's Clubs Championship for Omani Traditional Games, an interactive platform where children can experience traditional games by using virtual reality technology, and a mini exhibition that showcases photographs, paintings, and displays about traditional games.
